Asheville Reporting Service offers full-service videoconferencing. Depositions, expert consultations, partner meetings, client and co-counsel conferences, witness/trial preparation, arbitration, negotiations, settlement proceedings and recruitment interviews are only a few of the uses of videoconferencing. We will be happy to arrange all of the details of your conference and let you enjoy a hassle-free, travel-free experience, whether you are in Asheville or out-of-town. Just tell us when and where, we’ll do the rest. This includes locating and booking a satisfactory far-side location and coordinating ALL the details, so that your firm doesn’t have to.

DEPOSITIONS AND SWORN STATEMENTS

Since 1983, Asheville Reporting Service's court reporters have been servicing the legal community in Asheville ( Buncombe County ) and Western North Carolina and covering depositions in civil, criminal and Industrial Commission matters. Our reporters travel to many counties, including Henderson, Madison, Haywood, Cherokee, Clay, Macon, Transylvania, Jackson, Yancey, McDowell, Polk, Rutherford, Cleveland, Caldwell, Catawba, Watauga, Mitchell, Avery, Burke, Gaston, Lincoln, Iredell, Swain, Rowan, and Mecklenburg Counties.

HEARINGS/ARBITRATIONS

Asheville Reporting Service has years of court reporter experience, covering hearings of every nature. You name it, we’ve reported it, ranging from government-sponsored hearings such as National Advisory Council on Migrant Health Hearings (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services), Department of Agriculture Fish and Wildlife hearings on endangered species and critical habitats, the North Shore Road EIS public hearings (U.S. Department of the Interior), to state-level hearings such as Employment Security Commission, Department of Transportation, OSHA grievance hearings, and Union arbitration proceedings. On a more local level, Asheville Reporting Service has covered a wide variety of proceedings ranging from city and town council meetings, to employee grievance hearings at universities and hospitals, to local homeowner’s association meetings. We have also worked for large corporations and research entities from time to time, reporting and transcribing their focus group interviews.

Professional VideographyIN-HOUSE VIDEOGRAPHY

We are happy to provide our own professional, cutting-edge legal video services to our clients. We can provide you with VHS cassettes, CDs, DVDs, and DVDs with text synchronization.

SPANISH INTERPRETATION

We have a Spanish fluent reporter on-site, and can arrange interpretation services for whatever language or dialect you require.

FULL-SERVICE FACILITIES

Asheville Reporting Service is located in the heart of downtown Asheville, within walking distance of the courthouse and government offices. Two hotels are directly across the street from us, the Renaissance Hotel and the Best Western Asheville-Biltmore.

We have three conference rooms available. We also have auxiliary offices that can be used by attorneys for pre-deposition conferencing or privacy for phone calls. We provide coffee and beverages, and our office is surrounded by great restaurants, ranging from pizza to fine dining.

TRANSCRIPTS

Our transcripts attest to the high standards we set as court reporters, both in accuracy and in readability. We make available the increasingly popular E-transcript, which is even better than an ASCII file, and can be used with all sorts of litigation software. E-Transcripts are delivered instantly via e-mail or diskette, and the recipient can view, format, copy-and-paste, and print out this document. Today, more than 70 percent of the court reporting industry uses this technology. OTHER SERVICES AVAILABLE : Condensed transcripts; Word Indexing.

ELECTRONIC RECORDINGS

Since North Carolina eliminated official court reporters from the district court level, proceedings have been recorded by the clerk with a four-track, slow-speed tape recording machine. That leaves appellate attorneys the challenge of having that transcribed. Asheville Reporting Service has both the necessary equipment and the resources to produce that transcript. If we can hear the tape, we’ll transcribe it -- although we strongly advocate hiring a court reporter to attend the proceedings, as it’s the only way we can guarantee accuracy.

OTHER EXPERIENCE

Although the majority of our work is outside the courtroom, we are always ready to cover District and Superior Court proceedings, and have been involved in many high-profile cases such as the Union-Butterfield matter in Buncombe County and the Jackson County case against the Sylva Seven. Asheville Reporting Service has a contract with the Buncombe County Department of Social Services and handles all of their court reporting needs. We also have a contract with the Department of Justice to report all of the Grand Jury proceedings in the Western District. For many years, Asheville Reporting Service has covered the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians’ tribal meetings, and we have assisted the U.S. government with transcription in investigations of criminal matters.
